Wow! Last year was an exciting year at Barnes! We have so many awesome things planned for the students in the upcoming year and are looking forward to another awesome year. School will begin on August 4, 2008. Orientation will be for the High School and Middle School on July 29th at 7:00pm and on July 30 for the Elementary School also at 7:00pm. Uniforms can be ordered on this day, so be prepared!
We will begin the school year with a week of “Submersion”. What is that? It is a total week of concentrating on God’s love and mercy, plus an intensive Bible study time! The High School will be camping out at a local park and having the time of their lives!!! The Middle School will be bussed to the events each day. Guest Speakers will be Rev. Chris Pritchett, Rev. Caleb Akin, Rev. Gary McCurley, and Rev. Chris LeCroy. Richard Luman, an incredible Praise and Worship leader, will be leading us daily in worship.
The lower grades will start their adventures with a trip to Callaham farms in Belton, S.C. Mine for gold, pet a goat, milk a cow, or pick a pumpkin… What a trip! We’ll picnic at the park before heading back to the academy! All parents are welcome to come along for the day of fun!
November brings us to the state capital! Watch out Atlanta!!! The 3rd through 8th grades will be visiting our wonderful state capitol, Atlanta. This trip will begin with a visit to the Georgia Aquarium, a play at the Shakespeare Playhouse, and end with a day visit (pages and all) to the Georgia capital! This is an over-nighter, so parents please make plans to attend!
On January 18, we will be departing for Washington, D.C. for the inauguration. WOW!!! We will be staying a full week in D.C. to enjoy our nation’s capitol! Visits to various key places will include: The White House, U.S. Capitol, FBI Building, WWII Museum, National Mall, and too much more to list! High School students may come without a parent, but anyone younger must be accompanied by a parent. We only have 60 spots available, so let me know if you plan on attending.
Other events will be going on throughout the year. Please check the calendar for monthly events. We really want parents to participate in the education of their children and these life experiences, so don’t hesitate to volunteer!
Also, remember that golf and volleyball will kick off their season in August! All home volleyball games will be held a Cedar Creek and all home golf tournaments will be held at Hartwell Golf Course. Basketball will kick off directly following these sports at the end of October. Then Softball and Baseball will take over in late February…Go Vikings!!!
As you can see, we have an AWESOME year planned! God has blessed us with the most incredible teachers, the most remarkable students, and the most amazing parents. He does NOTHING halfway!!! We’ll see you in July! May God Bless You All!
Because of Him,
Sarah
